Erik's Show Photos

Erik loves the show ring. He's a real ham, and loves to have people admiring him and clapping for him. I remember standing with him at ringside early on in his show career, while the National Anthem was played prior to the start of the show. When everyone clapped after the anthem finished, Erik's tail started wagging away. I suspect he thought they were all clapping for him!

Erik was entered in Westminster in 2004. He came down with a nasty stomach virus the week before the show, however, and I almost kept him home. He seemed a bit better the morning of the show, and kept his breakfast down for the first time in three days, so we headed into New York City. The Garden was hot, stuffy and crowded, and Erik started feeling sick again. He vomited his breakfast and I wanted to take him home, but it was too late. He was feeling miserable, and I felt so sorry for him. When Sandie trotted him out into the ring, however, he rallied and showed like a true champion. I was so proud of my boy! I can only imagine how weak he must have felt after not eating for three days, but you would never have known it watching him in the ring. He made the first cut, which was an accomplishment in itself, even for a healthy dog, as all the other dogs who made the cut were in the top ten that year. Even though we did not bring home a ribbon, I was so proud of Erik that day.

Erik was shown to his championship by Sandie Gordon (thank you Sandie!). She appears with him in most of the photos below. In Erik's first time out as a veteran in 2007, he was shown by Jack Secrest, also shown below. Erik took the breed over a nice group of specials that day, which made me very proud (thank you Jack and Judge William Cunningham!). These photos represent a few highlights of Erik's show career.
